Owner and Director
Murphy & Co. was created by Claire, a New Zealand mother to three beautiful children. It was founded on the clear need for there to be more socially sustainable clothing available that offers a range of options suitable for boys and girls.
Claire has a love for textured fabrics and after discovering the benefits that waffle fabrics have to offer, spent a great deal of time researching a manufacture to produce the Murphy & Co. line. As a mother to three she wanted to provide a product that offered the absolute best to your precious little ones, while ensuring the manufacturers worked in ethical working conditions. By choosing a manufacturer that is certified under The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) we can be confident that every part of the process adheres to the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria and is backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain
About the brand:
A father & a mans best friend
The name Murphy & Co. was inspired by Claire's late father who passed away in 2017. The inspiration behind the logo came from his dog Toby. Toby was well known in Wellington as the dog who rode the train along the Wellington Waterfront. He was often seen wearing a train drivers hat sitting alongside his owner. Toby worked alongside Mr Murphy riding up the front of the train for about 8 years. He loved entertaining children all day long. Murphy & Co. have named their first collection in memory of Toby. Toby is featured on each Murphy & Co. piece embroidered on the front as well as a small side tag. He is featured wearing his train drivers hat and a wagging tail.
